My favourite pasta dishes have both tomato sauce and a rich creamy sauce. Quick and easy to put together, this ravioli bake is another family favourite. People will think you spent much more time making this than you did.
Choosing a really great pasta sauce it the first step. There are so many really good ones available – and it can be a matter of opinion and personal taste which is best. You can certainly use your own homemade if you wish.
The Alfredo Sauce is also very quick to put together. I think I have only tried the Alfredo Sauce in a jar once and I didn’t care for it. This one is so rich and creamy AND easy to do. Try it once and I think you will be convinced. Traditional Alfredo contains lots of butter and whipping cream – this one has considerably less fat using only 2 tbsp. of butter and milk. I use whole milk (3.5% fat) as opposed to whipping cream (32 – 35 % fat) – the small amount of flour thickens the sauce just enough that you don’t miss the extra fat.
An interesting variation of this recipe is to make tortellini in Alfredo Sauce (you may wish to double the Alfredo Sauce) and drizzle with the tomato pasta sauce – no need to bake the pasta. The reverse of this one!!
