One of my family’s favourite cookies!!!
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon
Cream butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar well. Beat in eggs until well blended. Stir together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Add to butter mixture and mix well. Dough may be chilled for an hour at this point.
Preheat oven to 400 F.
Stir 3 tbsp. sugar and 1 tbsp. cinnamon together in small bowl or custard cup. Shape cookie dough into 1 inch balls. Using two teaspoons, roll balls in cinnamon sugar to coat. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, allowing room for cookies to spread. Bake for 8 – 10 minutes or until cookies have puffed, spread and are lightly browned on the bottom. Let set on cookie sheet for 1 to 2 minutes then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
